Background. Construction is not simply one of the factors stimulating economic growth, but a field of activities with opportunities attracting those, who wish to profit illegally and unduly. These individuals and their actions threaten the economic security of the state as they complicate the achievement of set development goals and management of the economy. One of the ways to tackle such criminal activities is to ensure the inevitability of criminal punishment against the perpetrators of economic crimes in the construction industry. This is possible only provided the activities on identification of these crimes are effectively organized and carried out. In this regard, the purpose of this article is the analysis of the current situation in law enforcement to identify the said type of economic crime.
Materials and methods. The goal was achieved as a result of a comprehensive analysis of the existing legislation, expressed views and opinions regarding the optimization of activities on revealing of economic crimes in the construction industry. In many respects this was facilitated by the application of a number of methods of scientific research, such as system-activity, situational analysis and logical methods (deduction, induction).
Conclusions. The inevitability of criminal punishment of the perpetrators of economic crimes in the construction is possible under the condition of effectively organized and conducted measures to identify these crimes by the law enforcement.
